WHY SUPPORT ED!?
El Segundo’s public schools receive approximately 50% less state funding per student, compared to Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) and other states in the U.S.
WHAT DOES THE $1.8 MILLION FUND?
The RESULT of generous financial support from businesses, parents, and community members is an AWARD WINNING SCHOOL DISTRICT that offers a complete and innovative education. ESUSD aims to prepare skilled, productive, and compassionate citizens who will be able to meet the challenges of a global society in the 21st Century.
STEM: Ed! recognizes students need to be competitive in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math to cultivate the leaders, innovators and workforce of tomorrow. Programs supported include K-12 Engineering, 9-12 Biomed, 6-12 Robotics, and Coding.
THE ARTS: Fostering imagination and the creative thought is a core investment that all children should have access to and is essential for encouraging out of the box thinking and new ideas. Programs supported include K-12 Band, Vocal, String Music, and Drama.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION: Studies show students who are physically active tend to have better grades, school attendance, cognitive performance (e.g., memory), and classroom behaviors (e.g., on-task behavior). Programs supported include K-5 Physical Education.
SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL SUPPORT: Emotions matter. ESUSD adopts the RULER approach which applies the hard science to teach soft skills. Programs supported include K-12 Counselors, Student Engagement Programs, College & Career Readiness, Librarians and Reading Readiness, and RULER.
